What's happening?

Read the announcement.

When will kimono shut down?

The publicly accessible cloud hosted service at kimonolabs.com will shut down on February 29th, 2016. From this point forward, you will no longer be able to log into the kimono website. All crawl jobs will be stopped and all APIs and their data will be inaccessible.

What happens to my APIs after the shutdown date?

All APIs and their data will no longer be accessible after the shutdown date. There will be a 30 day window (until March 31th, 2016) for you to import your APIs into the desktop application to continue extracting data using your Desktop PC.

Will I still be able to access my Kimono Apps?

No. Kimono Apps will no longer function after the shut down date.

Will I still be able to view Kimono Blocks embedded in my website?

No. Kimono Blocks will no longer function after the shut down date. To avoid errors we recommend you remove Kimono Block embed code from your website as soon as possible.

What's happening to the Google Sheets integration?

Because API endpoints will not be accessible after the shut down date, the Google Sheets integration will no longer be supported. You can use the desktop application to save an API's data to file in a CSV format which can be opened by Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software.

Desktop Application

Which platform(s) does Kimono Desktop Edition support?

Kimono for Desktop requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later or Windows 7 or later (coming soon). There is no Linux version nor are there plans to develop one.

Which features does the Desktop App support?

The Kimono Desktop App supports API creation, editing and crawling all from your Desktop PC. You can see the supported feature table at the bottom of the the desktop download page.

Is it possible to run Kimono Desktop on a server?

The Desktop App was developed specifically for Desktop PC use and must be controlled by the Kimono Desktop UI. Also, the Kimono Desktop chrome extension must be installed on and run from the machine that is running the desktop application. Because of this, the application cannot be run from a server.

Does the Desktop App use the same chrome extension?

No. The Kimono Desktop Chrome extension is distributed separately as it's own chrome extension with the name Kimono Desktop – download here. The two extensions have different icons to help tell them apart in the event that you have both of them installed. The regular kimono chrome extension will no longer function after the shut down date and will be removed from the chrome store.

How can I get the Kimono Desktop chrome extension?

The Kimono Desktop chrome extension is downloadable from the Chrome store here: Kimono Desktop.

Will you still support the Kimono API?

No. The API used for programatically managing your APIs and interacting with the kimono service will not be supported by the Desktop App. The only way to manage your APIs and start crawls is through the Kimono Desktop user interface.

How much does the Desktop App cost?

Kimono Desktop is provided free of charge.

How can I keep my Desktop App up to date?

Although we do not plan on continuing active development of Kimono, we do have a mechanism for deploying critical patches. The Mac OS X version supports automatic updates: when new versions are available, they will be downloaded automatically and you will be prompted to quit and install. The windows version will notify you when an update is available after which you can visit the site and download and install the new version.

How can I import kimonolabs.com APIs into the Desktop App?

Until March 31th, 2016, you can import your kimonolabs.com APIs into your locally installed Kimono Desktop App. Simply open Kimono Destop and navigate to the Settings view to access the API import feature. Enter your kimonolabs.com credentials and click Import. The process could take some time if you have a large number of APIs or large URL lists. This function will transfer the APIs themselves including scraping rules, configuration details like modify results functions and crawling rules/url lists but will not transfer any scraped data.

I forgot my kimonolabs.com password, what do I do?

Vist the Reset Password page to reset your kimono password.

How do I configure the Firebase integration?

Open Kimono Destop and navigate to the Settings view to access the Firebase integration setup. You must first create a Firebase account at firebase.com and setup at least one Firebase App.

How do I contact customer support?

It will not be possible for us to dedicate resources to supporting or actively developing any of the public facing kimono services moving forward. For common help issues there is an active community on Stack Overflow and other forums. The Kimono Help Center will be also accessible for the forseeable future.
