The Sochi Winter Olympics are the most expensive olympics in history, costing $50 billion. 151 million U.S. viewers have already tuned in. Despite the expense and interest, there is no API (except a paid one from a 3rd party). This seriously limits the number and quality of apps and visualizations available. It's a shame to see such valuable data, forged from the hard work of 2,859 athletes, wasted. We want to empower you - the makers - to bring this data to life. So, we built a RESTful API to give you access to up-to-date athlete, country, sport and medal data.
The Olympics hold all sorts of interesting data. You can imagine answering simple questions like which country has the most medals right now? Or which athlete? We can learn how many russians are competing in their home olympics or who are the oldest olympians this year? Or the youngest? What interesting questions do you have? Check out the explorer below or the API docs link to the right to get started.
